Join us for an insightful lecture with Professor Pauline Wakeham from Western University, an expert in Indigenous reparations movements, as she delves into the complex history of mid-century colonialism in the Arctic. Drawing connections to the Sculpting Life exhibition, Professor Wakeham will explore the High Arctic relocations and their lasting impacts on Inuit communities. She will discuss the entanglement of these relocations with the commercialization of Inuit art and the ways Inuit communities have responded to these ongoing challenges in recent decades. This talk promises to offer a nuanced perspective on the intersections of art, history, and resilience in the Arctic.
